Just had burber carpeting installed. It shows every step we take on it. Will this always happen? Am I using the wrong kind of vacuum? I have only had the carpet 3 days.
Georgia at April 14, 2008 1:05 PMI can't tell if it's the padding below that's the problem or the carpet loops themselves. Are the loops getting flattened or is the padding keeping the foot imprint? I can't believe the vacuum is the problem, but don't know enough to say.

It sounds like you might not have the correct type of sweeper for you carpet. I'm copying/pasting from the article above: "Ask your carpet distributor, installer, or manufacturer which vacuum cleaner that they recommend or check their websites for assistance."
Don't sweat it though, unless you want to buy a new sweeper! I have a cream colored berber in my living room and hallways and I also have a black cat - a lovely combination - NOT. Sometimes I feel that my sweeper doesn't pick up the hair like it should too - especially at the edges where the carpet and walls meet. I just take a broom and gently sweep and the hair just seems to gather together to where I can pick it up and dispose of it. Sometimes I use just the vacuum hose extension as well with the little narrow opening attachment.

It's recommended to buy a vacuum that doesn't have brushes.......unfortunately, this probably isn't going to clean satisfactorily with the extremely long hairs that Maine Coon cats have.
Does your vac have attachments? Though it'd be a pain in the rear, I'd try using the attachment that looks like a small vac head. It'll take longer to vacuum for sure, but at least it won't damage the Berber.
Were I you, when it's time to go carpet shopping again, I'd choose a different type. Either that or get rid of the cat (which I'm sure is NOT an option!). ;~)
Main Coons are beautiful, I used to have one and loved him very much. I would have chosen him over my carpeting any ol' day!

How can I get the dog urine stains from my puppy out of my burber carpet I used resolve as soon as I saw her pee on the carpet but the stains will not come up what can I do?
